Online module 5

Hello! Welcome to another blog post. For this post, we'll be discussing a plague that conquered the world.
The Black Death/ Bubonic Plague

The Bubonic plague is an infection of the lymphatic system, usually resulting from the bite of an infected flea known as the Xenopsylla cheopis. The disease can be transmitted by direct contact with infected tissue or exposure to the cough of another human.

Where did it begin: Himalayan Mountains of South Asia in the 1200s

Reason for its occurrence: due to living conditions, humans lived in close contact with rats. Black rats were the most common and carried a bacteria called Yersinia Pestis which caused the plague.

When did it end: in the year 1353, but came back after 800 years.

Did the people who experienced it learn anything from the experience / do anything differently afterward?:
The Bubonic Plague invented quarantine. There was an implementation of forced isolation of 40 days which proved to have an effect and helped lessen the amount of those with the disease.
